What's in store?
It is easy to organize small things stored in sanitary places. Before, with silverware trays in particular, protecting items from the grime that collects in the drawer was done with a plastic, compartmentalized tray. The grime, of course, collected in the storage tray just as quickly as in the drawer. This required the tray to be emptied completely, cleaned, then placed back in the drawer. If this is the biggest headache in your day, we are all envious. Regardless, individual storage trays offer a much easier solution.
Six streamlining suggestions
Some common, and not-so-common, uses for those storage trays that you see populating the home section at your local retail store:
- Customize an office caddy - because many kinds of storage trays are interlocking, you don't have to be at the mercy of office suppliers to design your ideal desk caddy.
- Silverware drawer and beyond - like your forks and knives separate? You can also make specific homes for corkscrews, zesters, melon balers - you get the idea.
- Dry spices - organize a much more diverse collection of spices with small storage racks. Arrange them according to their ethnic origin, use in baking, general cooking, etc.
- Sewing room - a great way to keep spools separate and properly raveled.
- In the bathroom - rather than keep those items you use every day in a medicine cabinet, have them in sight and sanitary with a network of storage trays.
- Any counter space - the garage, the kitchen, the bathroom. Storage trays come in such a wide variety of styles and colors that all those things your mother insisted be stowed away neatly can squat on the counter in an orderly habitat.
Most importantly, all these solutions benefit from being detachable. If you take a minute to organize, you won't have to sift through near-Asian curries to get to the Oriental Five Spice mixture. Likewise for working with denim-friendly threads instead of weaker ones.
